Rabbi shimon Zehnwirth
Torah Academy is fortunate to have Rabbi Shimon Zehnwirth as its founding Dean. A veteran educator with almost two decades of experience in administration, Rabbi Zehnwirth graduated from Queens College of the City University of New York with a degree in Computer Science. He was ordained by Rabbi A. Henach Leibowitz, of blessed memory, and soon after receiving ordination, Rabbi Zehnwirth was asked to join the administration of the Jerusalem branch of Yeshiva Chofetz Chaim. There he was known for his warm personality and upbeat manner. While on faculty, Rabbi Zehnwirth delivered graduate-level courses in Talmud and was responsible for student guidance. Later, Rabbi Zehnwirth became principal of the newly established Girls Division of Torah High Schools of San Diego, California and graduated its first class. Subsequently, he served as principal of Hanna Sacks Bais Yaakov High School in Chicago.
Rabbi Zehnwirth is an accomplished writer. He co-authored the acclaimed Majesty of Man: Torah Insights Into Human Nature, and its sequel, Pinnacle of Creation, published by Artscroll/Mesorah Publications. The theme of both volumes is the majesty and grandeur of the human being. This is also the foundation of Rabbi Zehnwirth's educational approach: building the confidence and self-esteem of each student, enabling them to actualize their potential for greatness and success in life.
